Press Release: FDA Approves and Authorizes Updated mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines

Posted on:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved and granted emergency use authorization (EUA) for the new COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. The new formulas include a monovalent (single) component that corresponds to the Omicron variant KP.2 strain of SARS-CoV-2. Pfizer and Moderna started making the new doses in June after the FDA advised them to update the formulas to match the version of the virus that was gaining ground in the U.S. The updated Novavax vaccine has not been approved yet.
