Flu Season Runs October-May; Public Health Encourage Vaccination for Protection
GREENE COUNTY, OH—While much of the nation and world continues to fight against COVID-19, local public health officials want to remind the public that it is more important than ever to protect against influenza, which, like COVID-19, is a respiratory illness. Vaccination for the flu is critical to help reduce the overall impact of respiratory illnesses on the general population and lower the resulting burden on the healthcare system during the pandemic. Getting the flu vaccine helps protect those that cannot get the vaccine and those that are unable to make antibodies to the flu (like persons who are having cancer treatments and others). Everyone six months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.
