Who is newly eligible for Medicaid coverage under Medicaid Expansion?

Beginning January 1, 2014, Medicaid coverage was extended to a new group of Ohioans. This group includes: Adults between the ages of 19 and 64, who are between 0% and 138%* of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).  Customers receiving Medicare are not eligible for Medicaid coverage under this expansion, but may be eligible to receive Medicaid if they meet guidelines under another covered group (i.e. Aged (65+), Disabled, or Parent/Caretaker Relative). Parents between 91-138% of the Federal Poverty Level are now eligible.


How can I submit a Medicaid Application?

Any Ohio resident may submit a Medicaid application which will be managed by the office of 

Job and Family Services in your county of residence.


· Preferred method!  All residents of Ohio can apply on-line on computer or mobile devices through the Ohio Benefits self-service portal at:   Benefits.Ohio.gov  


· Schedule an appointment at the Greene County Combined Health District (937)374-5655.

     We can assist with your Medicaid application on the self service portal.


· Through the Medicaid Consumer Hotline at:

What if I learn I do not qualify for Medicaid?

If you do not qualify for Medicaid, you may qualify for help paying for insurance on the

Federal Health Insurance Marketplace. For more information about the Insurance Marketplace and Affordable Care Act, visit HealthCare.gov or call the federal hotline at (800) 318-2596.
